Richard Leppig

An actor by profession, Richard Leppig was the epitome of a renaissance man, handsome, debonair, and always game to try anything once. A New Jersey boy from a large, hard-working family, he never quite fit the mold of blue collar worker.

After serving in the military (U.S. Navy), he decided to pursue more creative endeavors. Acting and singing in New York and the Catskills led to a national tour with a “Hello Dolly” troupe with Dorothy Lamour as Dolly. Following his acting hopes, Richard moved west and found love instead of movie fame.

Richard and his love found later life in Sublimity Oregon and although his eyesight was failing, Richard took up sketching and created a “column” for the local weekly which featured his wry, (frequently snarky, self-deprecating humor) accompanied by his earnest loyalty to his wife, family, and friends, making him an enduring character to all he encountered. His creativity also found an outlet acting in local community theatre, as well as writing the weekly column for his senior retirement community during the seven years he lived there reminiscing about “the good old days” and life as a senior citizen.
